If you are going to this night market, you should definitely look out for these following three snacks: Angelica Root Mutton Soup (當歸羊肉湯), Green Onion Bun (蔥油餅) and Bu Meat (卜肉). Taipingshan is located in the southwest of Datong Township, Yilan County, covering area of 12,631 hectares and elevation close to 2000 meters, the mountain range was called "Miannao", an Atayal Aborigine term meaning "green and luxuriant, or thriving and flourishing with dense forest". In the old time, the mountain range was listed along with Alishan and Baxianshan as one of the three major timber fields in Taiwan. Yilan County is well-known for its numerous natural hot springs due to the area’s geographic nature. Amongst these are the historic “Jiaoxi Hot Spring”, which is known as “The Hot Spring among Hot Springs” and “Tangwei Hot Spring” which has been famous since Qing Dynasty and ranked on the “Eight Scenes of Lanyang Area”. The Jiaoxi Hot Spring originates from the foot of a hill behind Fuchung Temple at Deyang Village and runs through railroads and highways, before gathering into a brook and used by the locals as natural baths in ancient times. read more »

The Taroko Memorial Arch Building is constructed in 1960, advocated by the late President Chiang Ching-kuo. It is now a historical landmark, not to be miss as you travel across Taiwan, that stands in the intersection between the Su-Hua Highway and Central Cross-island Highway and marks the eastern start-point of the Central Cross-Island Highway.
