Gurney Drive, or Persarian Gurney in Malay, is famous for its seafood and other local hawker fares, and stalls that open till late night. It has been around since 1936, and was named after Sir Henry Gurney, a former British High Commissioner in Malaya who was assassinated in the 1950s. Hawkers used to set up shop by the roadside, where a large number of patrons would enjoy local delights. read more »

Kek Lok Si Temple is a beautiful Buddhist temple that stands majestically on a hill in Air Itam in Penang, the largest and best known temple on the island. A project inspired by the chief monk of the Goddess of Mercy Temple at Pitt Street, it was also supported by the Manchu Emperor Guangxu, who bestowed a tablet and gift of 70,000 volumes of the Imperial Edition of the Buddhist Sutras. Kek Lok Si Temple comprises several prayer halls, pagodas, bell towers and more, but the two structures that stand out are the 7-storey pagoda and the huge bronze statue of the Goddess of Mercy, Guan Yin. read more »

The Gardens was built in 1884 and also known as "the Waterfall Gardens", because at the end of the Botanic Gardens is a 122-metre high cascade waterfall with its water flowing through the Gardens. The Botanical Gardens houses many species of plants and trees such as the cannonball tree and the Raintree.
