The 118km highway is a perfect getaway for people to drive along while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of Taiwan. Lai Chen Rib Noodles is a well-known delicious signature food store in Hualien. This 2 storey store is conveniently located within the core of crowded shopping downtown area. Although the price is a bit expensive considering its relatively small portion of food, you should at least try it once to find out the reason why people think it is good. read more »

There are only two Hong Ye (Red Leaves) Hot Springs in the whole of Taiwan - one in Taitung and the other in Hualien. The Hong Ye Hot Spring in Hualien, is located in one of the most serene and beautiful settings, amidst majestic mountain ranges and abundant forests, and the water source which originates from the Hong Ye Brook 1745 meters above sea level, is one of the freshest and purest spring water you can find. Being alkaline, due to its sodium carbonate composition, the 47 degrees Celsius Hong Ye Hot Spring water is purportedly effective in treating skin conditions, and is also suitable from consumption. read more »

Located at a high altitude, the RueiSuei Hot Springs delivers a spectacular scenery of the surrounding mountains and plains, and are one of the three largest hot springs located in scenic Hualien. The Rueisuei Hot Springs are also known as the Give Birth to a Son Springs, as couples who bathe frequently here are said to have given birth to a son. Though some may be put off by the muddy yellow crystallized layer floating on the spring water's surface, however, do not think the water is unclean as this means that the water instead is rich in iron and barium, which is very nourishing for the skin. read more »

The Swallow Grotto is a cliff that is situated alongside the Taroko George with natural potholes on its surfaces as a result of the river and groundwater erosion. Visitors will have to take a stroll through the Tunnel of Nine Turns in order to view the Swallow Grotto at a close-up range, and that also comes with the additional benefit of enjoying the sceneries of Taroko George and Tunnel of Nine Turns which in turn complements the ecological habitat of the swallows - Swallow Grotto. read more »

Tunnel of Nine Turns, also known as the Jiuqudong tunnel, is the most spectacular sight alot the Taroko Gorge trail, where the cliffs face one another. This tunnel was constructed in 1996, providing a platform for tourists to view the many geographical wonders in Taroko National Park like the rock folds, joints and fissures of the marble cliffs. The two cliffs are situated so close to each other that it is as if they are joining to each other if one sees them from a distance. read more »

Changchun Shrine was constructed in memorial of the 226 military veterans who died during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway from 1956 to 1960. The spring water adjacent to the shrine flows all year around and therefore the name Eternal Spring Shrine and the Highway Bureau named it after 'Changchun Falls'. It is now a scenic spot which holds an utmost significance to the Central Cross-Island Highway. read more »
