Situated on Po Fook Hill at Pai Tau Village overlooking Shatin, the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery (Man Fat Tsz), is one of Hong Kong’s most famous Buddhist temples and popular tourist attractions. Managed by lay-persons, it was founded in 1949 by Reverend Yuet Kai, who personally helped in its construction by carrying materials from the foot of the mountain. Born in Kunming in Southern China, he aimed to establish a Buddhist college, but eventually decided to found a monastery, resulting in the construction of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastry. read more »

It resembles an ancient Chinese village, with replicas of temples, pagodas and street scenes of the past. In addition, exhibits and demonstration halls introduce you to more of China's past, from 5000 years ago!
