Situated in Tambon Chom Bueng, Tham Chomphon is a cave that was once visited by royalty, namely King Rama IV and Queen Si Patcharin, in 1895. Fond of its beauty, they changed its name from Tham Mutchalin to Tham Chomphon, with the new name meaning 'Field Marshal Cave'. This is because they were impressed by the beautiful stalagmites and stalactites that were present in the cave, especially the so-called ‘Pha Wichit’ stalactites which looked like the fringe of a shoulder strap of a Field Marshal. read more »
