Upon victory, he captured the Lao Song prisoners of war to Thailand, settling them in Phetchaburi Province. This influx of prisoners ultimately became the ancestors of the present day Lao Song, concentrating in Lao Song Village. read more »

With a length of about 4350km, Mekong River is the longest river in Southeast Asia, the 7th longest in Asia, and the 12th longest in the world. Established after the Second World War, Kanchanaburi War Cemetery (also known as Don Rak) was built to commemorate more than 5084 Commonwealth and 1896 Dutch Prisoners of War who died during the construction of the Burma-Siam Railway. The entire stretch of Fisherman's Village is known to be the most well-preserved destination in Koh Samui. Wat Khunaram is a typical Buddhist temple in Thailand famous for its mummified body of Loung Por Ruam, the only mummified monk in Thailand and possibly the Buddhist world. In 1973, Loung Por Ruam passed away in a seated mediative position, and his body has been kept in the same position since then, displayed in an upright glass case in Wat Khunaram. The lack of decomposition of the body may be shocking for visitors, but serve as a visual reminder of Buddha's teachings for the Thais. read more »

It is a magnificent structure, with its 16 buildings totaling 399 metres long, supported by 1,080 concrete pillars.
