The Guanziling Water Fire Source is an unusual sight whereby the source of the natural gas bubbles up through a clear pool, to create an image of flames dancing just above the water. It is a queer and rare sight to see. Anping Old Street used to be the original Dutch settlement in Tainan. It contains some of the oldest streets in Taiwan. Guanzhilin Scenic Area is located north of Shanxi river on the river terrace, 270 metres above sea level. This particular area is famous for its muddy hot spring that is purported to nourish the body, relief aches and cure skin diseases, thus many hotels have been set up and making business with the naturally available hot spring. Koxinga Shrine is constructed in 1663, to worship the hero Cheng Chen-Kung who fought off the Dutch and reclaimed freedom. You will walk through the beautifully-maintained courtyard that gives off the traditional feel with its red painted colour of the buildings and the stone pavement, followed by noticing a dragon fountain in its pond while crossing a little bridge. Leaving the courtyard and heading towards the shrine, you will see hanging wooden tablets in another building. read more »

Being one of Taiwan's Tier-One heritages since 1982, the Chihkan Tower was established by the Dutch in 1653, during their period of colonization in Taiwan. It was initially named as Fort Provintia which means 'eternity' in Dutch. It was later belonged to Koxinga when he recovered Taiwan and hence renamed it to be Chihkan Tower (Chihkanlou) in 1945. read more »

Anping Fort used to be called Fort Zeelandia when it was first built by the Dutch over the span of ten years from 1624 to 1634. It was built for the Dutch to anchor their base at a strategic location with ease of access to shipments of food and reinforcements from Batavia. However, the Dutch surrendered in 1662 when they were overwhelmed by General Koxinga and his men with no reinforcements coming Batavia. read more »

This very fort was constructed to strengthen the defense against the invasion of Japanese even before Taiwan was handed over to them. The Eternal Fortress first started its construction in 1874 and was completed 2 years later. A French architect was hired to construct a modern fort which could defend any form of invasions or attacks that were launched from the sea. read more »
