Being the largest and most important Chinese Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Wat Mangkon Kamalawat will always have a large number of devotees who will flock to this particular temple to leave different offerings at the altars. This temple is definitely the place for you to witness some of the most breathtaking architectural designs. Constructed in a classical Chinese architectural style, the tiled roofs are elaborately decorated with different structures of flora and fauna, which includes the magnificent Chinese dragons. The ordination hall, also known as the ubosot, houses Wat Mangkon Kamalawat's Buddha image which is gold in colour, including an altar at the front of the image to cater for the religious rites which are performed. At the main entrance of the sermon hall, visitors will be able to witness huge statues of the four guardians of the world. Vital to all the local Chinese beliefs, surrounding Wat Mangkon Kamalawat, there are shrines which are dedicated to a myriad of Buddhist, Taoist and Confusian deities as well as significant figures of the respective religions. Behind the temple, there will be three pavilions, with one which is dedicated to the Chinese Goddess of Mercy, one to the founder of Wat Mangkon Kamalawat and the last one to Lak Chao. Not only will visitors be able to experience the different kinds of structures and architectural wonders being constructed for the important religion in Thailand, there will also be different booths within the compound of Wat Mangkon Kamalawat which will be selling the different items used for religious rites, worship as well as a stall for traditional Chinese medicine and also a fortune-teller.
