Khantoke Dinner Show is a unique cultural practice that is popular with Thai and foreigners alike. Such occasions only occur during important ceremonies such as weddings, housewarmings, temple celebrations, novice ordinations, life extensions, or funerals. This meal features a pedestral tray known as 'Khantoke' where authentic Northern Thai dishes are served. During the meal, guests get to enjoy dance and music performances featuring ethnic hill tribes (Karen, Hmong, Lahu, Akha, Mien and Lisu). Trays, spatulas, big spoons, and food containers are the essential utensils required for eating and they are often made of wood, bamboo, rattan, and coconut shells.
