Designed by internationally acclaimed architect, I.M.Pei to be 'the city within a city', Raffles City Shopping Centre transformed the city's skyline as the nation's largest development project when it officially opened in 1986. It certainly lives up to its billing, constantly evolving to remain relevant to changing consumer needs throughout the years and positioning itself as a contemporary and fashion-forward mall. Raffles City Shopping Centre is situated in the city's most strategic location right in the heart of Singapore. It is easily reached by major expressways and is barely a twenty-minute drive from the Changi International Airport via the East Coast Expressway.
Raffles City is linked directly to the City Hall MRT Interchange Station which connects the financial and commercial centres of Shenton Way and Raffles Place, the shopping centres and the tourist belt at Orchard Road with the residential estates to the north, east and west of Singapore. The station is one of the two interchange stations linking the north-south lines with the east-west lines. With the opening of a new link at Basement 2, it is now served by a third MRT line - the Circle Line, which is the Esplanade MRT Station.
Covered walkways link the stations to Raffles City. Regardless of weather conditions and traffic on the roads, all the facilities in Raffles City are readily accessible and conveniently available under one roof.
