Located on Sha Ba Lan Mountain near Sun Moon Lake, the Tse-En Pagoda (慈恩塔) is a construction made under the orders of Chiang Kai-shek. It was built in memory of his mother in 1971, and the 46 meters tall structure was one that required much work, given that the materials had to be shipped over the lake and moved up the mountain. Today, the Tse-En Pagoda stands tall as a famous landmark of Sun Moon Lake, surrounded by beautiful greenery. There are also stone tables and chairs around for visitors to take a rest. Architecture-wise, the Tse-En Pagoda is an octagonal building, with 3 storeys painted in white forming the base, and another 9 storeys painted in golden red.
This place is also known as 慈恩塔.
