It is better known as the Temple of Dawn, named after the Indian God of Dawn. With its beautiful architecture and fine craftsmanship, Wat Arun has earned its reputation as one of the most outstanding temples in Thailand. It consists of a massive imposing spire (prang), beautifully decorated with tiny pieces of colour glass and Chinese porcelain assembled delicately into intricate patterns. Despite its name as the Temple of Dawn, the best views of Wat Arun occurs during sunset, with the red sky sunset backdrop and the temple combining to create a stunning view.

1. The best and most common way to reach Wat Arun is on the river.
2. At the southwest corner of the Grand Palace (Wat Phra Kaew) board a boat from the Tha Tien express boat pier (opposite Wat Arun and boats leave every few minutes).
Alternatively,
Reach Tha Tien on the Chao Phraya River Express boats from any other pier, or take a taxi to it. Buses that go near Tha Tien are 1, 25, 44, 47, 62 and 91 which stop on Maharat road. Thonburi canal tours also go there too.
