The Grand Palace is Bangkok's most famous landmark, a must-see sight for visitors to Bangkok. Built in 1782, it spans an area of 218,400 sq. metres, with the length of its surrounding walls being 1,900 metres. It was the home of the Thai King, the Royal court and the administrative seat of government for 150 years. The Grand Palace is also an expression of Thai architectural style, with its beautiful architecture and intricate detail serving as a proud salute to the creativity and craftsmanship. Today, it remains the spiritual heart of the Thai Kingdom.
