Hua Lamphong Railway Station, also officially known as Bangkok Railway Station, is the main station in Bangkok and located at the heart of the city in Pathum Wan District. After going through six years of construction, the Hua Lamphong Railway Station was finally opened on 1916. In World War II, there was an attempt to bomb the station but it hit a hotel in the vicinity instead. If you visit the Hua Lamphong Railway Station today, you will see that it was constructed in an Italian Neo-Renaissance style with elaborately designed wooden roofs as well as glass windows that are stained. The station has 14 platforms, 26 ticket booths and two electric display boards which will be able to receive 130 trains and about 60,000 commuters and passengers daily. In 2004, Hua Lamphong Railway Station is also connected to Hua Lamphong Train Station to provide convenience and allow more accessibility to the people living in Bangkok.
