A 'krathong' refers to lotus-shaped receptacle while 'loi' stands for floating. This festival usually falls in November and it is definitely one not to be missed. It will be no doubt a captivating sight when you see everyone release their krathong onto the waters at night, and all at once. Gradually and amazingly, the river will seem to glow as thousands or even millions of krathong populate the water body. Not only will there be lights in the waters, Thais will be hanging lights on walls, trees, buildings and the most spectacular view of all would also be the thousands of lighted lanterns being released into the sky at once. You will definitely be awed by the amazing glowing night right before your eyes. Furthermore, there would be a beauty pageant with pretty ladies to accompany the beautiful night.
This place is also known as Festival of Lights.
