Otaru Music Box Museum is the largest museum of music boxes in Japan. Be prepared to be awed by the architectural design of the museum even before you enter the museum itself. Another landmark to look out for is the Steam Clock made by a Canadian clock maker in front of the museum. The five steam chimes of the clock blow a melody every 15 minutes and the main whistle whistles every hour. You can also enjoy the music of Aeolian Pipe Organs, an antique automatic pipe organ, at Otaru Music Box Museum Hall Number 2. Nearby, there is a shop called 'Music Box & Handicraft Studio - Yo-kobo', where visitors can make a music box for themselves. Methods including fusing and sandblasting are available.
This place is also known as 小樽オルゴール堂本館.
