Pulau Ubin, the highly popular mangrove island that many locals go for a weekend retreat as it offers an interesting variety of activities and sights. Visitors of Pulau Ubin can get to go mountain-biking on the rocky trails, go swimming or even camp overnight. Interesting sights to look out for would be that of the traditional fishing villages, prawn and fish farms, Chinese temples and limestone quarries. Be sure to try out the dishes from the seafood restaurants in Pulau Ubin as well. In the last few years, the government took interest on Chek Jawa and therefore has improved the infrastructure of Pulau Ubin with paved roads, shelters, information kiosks, together with a visitor centre. There is a huge importance as well in the conservation and protection of Chek Jawa's coasts and wetland. In this way, the government will then be creating a place that people would like to come as an eco-tourism spot, accompanied by an observation tower, boardwalks and viewing jetties.
