A small town to the north of Taiwan, Pingsi is a place to go to experience a relaxed pace of life with little or no business atmosphere. Having no lack of food, visitors will not go hungry while walking between iconic landmarks such as the railway track where "Junya little sister" was filmed as well as the Guan Yin Yan and the Eight immortals cave. Tourists from around the world come to this popular travel destination to observe the annual Sky Lantern Festival where lanterns are released into the sky as a tradition. Many old coal mining sites are now a tourist destination visited by many each year. Due to the lack of opportunities for employment, many youths are now relocated, leaving Pingsi the highest elderly population in Taiwan. The locals are generally very warm and hospitable, making tourists feel welcomed, and Pingsi a must visit when coming to Taiwan.
This place is also known as 平溪老街.
