If you have never heard of Pontian Wanton mee, then you surely are not native to the area. Pontian Wanton mee has a large cult-like following in Singapore, Malaysia and even Batam, Indonesia that testify to its huge popularity. The originator, Ah Chuan Pontian Wanton, is naturally in Pontian District, Johor, and still enjoying a huge thriving business. This Pontian wanton mee has a distinctive flavour derived from oyster sauce, chilli sauce, tomato sauce, and sesame oil, a combination not seen in other varieties of wanton mee, while the texture of the noodles is heavy yet springy, yet another distinctive feature. Throw in the succulent wantons (meat dumplings) wrapped in silken skins, and you will get a bowl of the tastiest wanton mee you have ever eaten.
