Located next to Himeji Castle in Hyōgo Prefecture, Kokoen Garden that spans an area of about 3.5 hectares was constructed in 1992 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Himeji municipality. It has nine different gardens within, designed in various garden styles of the Edo period, such as a pine tree garden, a flower garden and a bamboo garden, just to name a few.
